The Environment
Children feel secure when they are able to make sense of their surroundings, so our indoor and outdoor areas have been designed to provide the perfect environment in which children can develop and thrive.
We are very lucky within our Nursery to have a spacious indoor area within which the children can learn and play. The Nursery is set up to allow children freedom to choose resources based on their individual interests and is warm and welcoming.
Outdoor Space
At The Orchard Day Nursery, we believe in the importance of outdoor play and encourage the children to be outside daily in our secure garden area. Children enjoy spending time in the sandpit, Mud area and allotment area for growing fruit and vegetables.
Tapestry Online Learning Journey
Learning Journeys offer early years settings a way to record their children’s special moments and help parents be involved in a partnership as their children blossom and grow, each entry forming a thread in the warp and weft of the tapestry that is their life.
All children attending the ODN have a personal online Learning Journey which records photos, observations and comments, in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage, to build up a record of their experience during their time with us.
We use Tapestry, a system hosted in the UK on secure servers.
You (and your relatives, if you wish) will have secure access to your child’s Learning Journey via email address and password, and in addition to viewing our contributions, you can add to it by uploading your photos and comments and commenting on our observations.
We are proud to be independently reviewed and graded by the UK’s leading nursery review website.
